Evelyne Schotte, PMO Manager at Richmond and Kingston CCGs, volunteered at Welcare, a family-support charity that helps children and families overcome challenges and build towards a better future, in Kingston.
She said: “My colleague and I were invited to attend an open day, run by Welcare, to talk to families and carers about staying well over the winter months. Everyone we spoke to wanted advice on how they can look after themselves over the winter months, including getting the flu vaccine for young children aged between two and three. Many were not aware of the extended GP appointments in the borough of Kingston and found that information very useful; they were also interested to hear more information about how local pharmacists can provide expert advice and recommend treatments for their illnesses. The majority had used NHS 111 services, which is excellent. I really enjoyed volunteering and found it interesting and rewarding.”
