Pharmacy opening hours

Your local pharmacy is the place to go to get any prescription medicines and clinical advice for minor health concerns. But they do a lot more than that. As well as helping with common illnesses – like sore throats, coughs, colds, tummy troubles and aches and pains – pharmacy teams can also help with stopping smoking, cutting down on alcohol, advice on safe sex and emergency contraception. Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You don’t need an appointment – you can just walk in.

See the list of pharmacy opening hours over the festive period, including Christmas Day Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

GP appointments over Christmas and New Year 2018

GP appointments during the Christmas period, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, may be accessed by calling your GP practice during opening hours or at other times through NHS 111.

NHS 111

NHS 111 can help you if you need medical help or advice urgently but it’s not a life-threatening situation. Open 24/7, 365 days a year, NHS 111 connects you to a team of fully trained call advisers who are supported by experienced nurses, paramedics, and GPs.  They will ask questions to assess the symptoms, and give healthcare advice or direct you to a local NHS service. If necessary, they can also call an ambulance or direct you straight to A&E. Calls to NHS 111 are free from a landline or mobile phone. Just dial 111.
