Save time GP online!
Blog by busy local mum Violet McCready
Earlier this year I signed up to GP online services, and what a difference it has made.
Gone are the days of holding on the telephone, now I can organise GP appointments at the click of a button – when I’m on the bus to work, or wherever is convenient. And, through GP online services I can also request my regular asthma inhalers, without the hassle of going into the GP practice. As a busy working parent this really does help me to manage my health and keep myself well – and it saves time!
Research shows that many people struggle to get a GP appointment when they need one. We are fortunate in the borough of Richmond to be able to get a GP consultation (which could be over the phone or face-to-face) for adults or children from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. It may not be at your practice, but one close by - and with the permission of the patient - the doctor has full access to your medical records, so they can provide you with the care you need.
Although not everyone is familiar with the internet, or has access to a computer, smart phone or tablet, most people do and I encourage you to register for this new service. I have talked to other mums and many of them don’t know online services exist - I suspect this is due to people not being aware of it.
So how do you sign up? Registration couldn’t be simpler. You can sign up online
or the process for registering in person varies, but generally all it requires is that you turn up at your practice with photo identification. You will be given a user name and password and advised what services your practice offers.
So give it a go today! The greater the uptake, the faster we are likely to get the convenient and flexible services we need. For more information click here
