New urgent treatment centres for Richmond

Joint statement from Richmond Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Richmond Community Health in Partnership (RCHiP)

We are working together to improve healthcare for the residents of Richmond.
This includes plans to combine a range of primary and urgent care services run by GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals at Teddington Memorial Hospital, starting from April 2018. A similar service will follow in the east of the borough once we have found a suitable site.
Teddington Memorial Hospital has a range of services, including a walk-in centre, diagnostics department and GP appointments up to 8pm. The new proposals would bring these together into an urgent treatment centre where patients will be able to see a GP or a nurse for minor injuries, dressings and other services, such as X-rays.
The new plans include GP and nursing services between 8am and 8pm every day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays – offering bookable and emergency appointments.
Because people will be able to book an appointment, patients will spend less time waiting in a queue to be seen while people with more urgent problems will be seen quickly.
These proposals are intended to take the pressure off surrounding A&E departments and GP practices and allow GPs to spend more time with increasing numbers of people who have long-term illnesses, in order to keep them well at home and out of hospital.
Whatever we agree must be a good use of resources and public money in Richmond. We will keep you updated as proposals develop. In the meantime, services at Teddington Memorial Hospital will continue as normal.
Richmond Community Health in Partnership (RCHiP)
Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Richmond GP Alliance (RGPA) have come together as providers to form a single joint venture called RCHiP. This partnership means that local people in the borough will benefit from more joined up out-of-hospital services.
