LiveWell Richmond - helping you achieve your healthy New Year goals

In the run up to Christmas and the new year, with many healthy resolutions being made – the LiveWell Richmond service is on hand to offer advice and support to help you achieve your healthy goals and improve your lifestyle.
LiveWell Richmond is a free NHS service in the borough which provides help and support to people who want to make changes to their lifestyle. The dedicated team of LiveWell health coaches work with you every step of the way, providing information and guidance and regularly meeting with people who want to make healthy lifestyle changes over two or three months to set and achieve their goals in areas such as healthy eating, weight management, physical activity, mental health, smoking, alcohol consumption, drug misuse or sexual health.
As well as providing health coaching, LiveWell Richmond also offers access to specialist programmes such as weight loss and exercise on prescription, as well as support for those with long term conditions through the Expert Patient Programme and programmes like Walking Away from Diabetes.
To support the LiveWell programme and keep the spirit of volunteering from the Olympic and Paralympic Games alive, Richmond Council for Voluntary Service (Richmond CVS) – who support the LiveWell programme - are aiming to recruit a team of 100 volunteers as "Health Champions", working across the borough in a variety of supportive capacities – such as leading health walks or other activities which support healthy living. If you would like to find out more about becoming a health champion, please visit the Richmond CVS website
Richard Tyler, Chief Executive of Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust who run the LiveWell Richmond programme said: “The LiveWell project is an imaginative and integrated approach to providing people with help and support to make lifestyle changes that will make a difference to their wellbeing. We have put together an experienced and committed team to deliver LiveWell and we are excited at the prospect of this new initiative and the difference it will make."
NHS Richmond’s Director of Public Health, Dr Dagmar Zeuner said: "While Richmond is generally an affluent borough this can mask the hidden harms and threats to health arising from risky behaviours such as smoking, alcohol misuse, lack of exercise and unhealthy eating and related conditions such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Which is why offering people support on how to make healthy lifestyle changes, through the LiveWell programme is key.”
Cllr Nicola Urquhart, Cabinet Member for Adults Services Health and Housing at the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames says: “We want Richmond to be a place that enables all its residents to live healthier lives. Making small healthy lifestyle choices can make a real difference to health and wellbeing, but we all know that this isn’t always easy or straightforward. This is why the LiveWell programme is so important, it will ensure that people wanting to make a change can get the support and expertise that they need to do so.”
This free service is available to anyone aged 16 or over who lives in the London Borough of Richmond. To find out more or to book an appointment call the LiveWell team on 020 8487 1745 between Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm, or email  to find out more.
