Listen in and share your views on the future of primary care services
An ambitious programme to improve primary care in the borough will be discussed at a listening event being hosted by Richmond Council's Health and Wellbeing Board.
The purpose of the listening event is for attendees to share their views on the Council and NHS Richmond Clinical Commissioning Group's (CCG) joint primary care strategy. It will take place at Orleans House Gallery, Riverside, from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday 16 November.
The listening event marks the launch of the primary care strategy, which focuses on promoting prevention and joining up services throughout people's lives and enabling residents to start well, live well and age well. The three main elements of the strategy that will be discussed include:
- Accessible care: care that is timely and responsive to individual needs for routine and urgent care and advice that is not limited to consultations in the practice
- Proactive care: care which focusses on prevention and supports the individual to have the skills and capability to self-manage and take responsibility for their health and supports the overall health and wellbeing of the population.
- Co-ordinated care: care which is holistic and provides continuity and reassurance for patients whose condition and complexity of care require it.
The listening event has been organised by Richmond Council's Health and Wellbeing Board which is a forum where key leaders from the health and care system work together to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population and reduce health inequalities.
The board includes representatives from Richmond Council, Richmond CCG and Healthwatch. The evening will be split into two workshops and will be attended by Councillor Christine Percival, Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board, Dr Graham Lewis, Chair of Richmond CCG, Kathryn Magson, Chief Officer of Richmond CCG and Cathy Kerr, Director of Adult and Community Services.
Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Public Health, Cllr Lisa Blakemore, said:
"We hope that as many people as possible who are involved in the primary care sector in the borough of Richmond are able to attend this Listening Event. It will bring together elected members, senior leaders from the local health and social care system, practitioners and those who provide services on the front line. It is the perfect forum to make your voice heard."
Dr Graham Lewis, local GP and chair at NHS Richmond CCG, added: "This listening event will be very valuable in making sure that people, who have experienced primary care services, including GP services, are able to have their say about local health and social care services."
